Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be part of a Ground Station Engineering Service Team and will be expected to perform the following tasks - (non-exhaustive list):

 

  • Ground Station System Engineering activities
  • Space Communications systems requirement definition
  • Space Communications systems maintenance or enhancements
  • Production of project technical documentation (system/subsystem requirements, statement of work)
  • Technical document review
  • Participating in Ground Station systems FAT and SAT campaigns, drafting the related reports
  • Assessment of reports related to the definition, execution and evaluation of communication systems pre-development studies.
  • Ground Station Engineering support to operations, with special reference to the provision of expert support in the Delta DOR correlator development, maintenance and operations.

     

Successful Candidate

Skill and expertise

 

The successful applicant should have a university degree in Communication Engineering, Physics or related disciplines and as much as possible of the following skills and/or expertise:

 

  • Ground Station System Engineering
  • TT&C systems and their interfaces
  • Relevant ECSS and CCSDS standards and recommendations,
  • Signal Processing
  • Communications Link budgets
  • RF propagation through atmosphere and interplanetary plasma
  • Tracking techniques used for near Earth and deep space applications (ranging, Doppler, Delta DOR)
  • System knowledge about modulation and coding techniques
  • The working language is English, knowledge of another ESA member state language is an asset.
