Job Introduction

We are hiring an Enterprise Architect for the European Commission in Brussels and various locations around Europe.

Main Responsibilities

  • Create business architecture models that reflect the organization’s strategies and goals.
  • Integrate the project and program strategies and ensure alignment with business strategies and drivers, and management priorities.
  • Identify ways to reduce costs in IT and business leadership.
  • Evaluate systems for discrepancies or vulnerabilities.
  • Conduct research to find ways to improve operations.
  • Provide business architecture and systems processing guidance.
  • Create and implement a business vision and multi-year plan.

Successful Candidate

LEVEL OF EDUCATION

 Bachelor's or Master's Degree

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Proven ability to design and implement full-stack architectural solutions across Angular, Java, EJB, and Kafka-based environments

  • Hands-on expertise in:

    • Angular 18

    • Enterprise JavaBeans (EJBs)

    • Java

    • Kafka

    • ElasticSearch

    • SQL

  • Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, COBIT, and Zachman

  • Practical experience in developing and implementing architectural models based on these frameworks

  • Proficiency in enterprise architecture notations including ArchiMate and BPMN

  • Experience with enterprise architecture tools (e.g., ARIS or similar)

  • Experience defining and executing IT and architecture strategies under a CIO or equivalent governance structure

  • Ability to integrate a broad range of business, information, and technology skills to solve complex enterprise challenges

  • Deep familiarity with enterprise architecture goals and best practices

  • Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to align business and technical teams

  • Strong communication skills:

    • Verbal – capable of delivering presentations, leading seminars, and articulating complex ideas clearly

    • Written – able to produce high-quality documentation, reports, and architecture deliverables

  • Skilled in facilitating group sessions and workshops with both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Strong capability to promote and evangelize architecture concepts, influencing both technical and business stakeholders

  • Proficiency in analysis, modeling, and graphical abstraction techniques

  • Solid experience working within Agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe, or similar)

  • Fluent in English (spoken and written) — additional EU languages are a plus
